Cupping Therapy

What is Cupping Therapy and how does it work?

Cupping Therapy is a form of deep tissue massage. Cups are used to create a suction which in turn creates negative pressure. This negative pressure lifts the tissues allowing localised healing to take place.
It encourages increased blood flow to the area - blood contains essential nutrients to enable healing as well as clearing any stagnant toxins.
Cupping has been found to affect the body up to 4 inches into the tissues.

Cupping Therapy in some form, has been around since the Egyptians - at Reflexology Sussex we truly believe for something to have been around for such a long time there's got to a reason why.

It works wonders as a stand alone treatment but combined with Reflexology it's a fantastic overall treatment.

Cupping is effective for treating not only muscular complaints but a range of other concerns, such as:

  • Frozen shoulder
  • Elbow problems
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Sciatica
  • IT Band restrictions
  • Knee problems
  • Plantar fasciatis
  • Constipation and IBS
  • Cellulite
  • Poor immunity
  • Neck and Shoulder tension
  • Stress and overall Back tension
  • Lower back pain
  • Speeds up muscle recovery

There are many benefits to Cupping therapy:

  • Loosens muscles
  • Relieves tension
  • Improves circulation
  • Sedates the nervous system
  • Relieves respiratory difficulties
  • Localised pain relief
  • Clears energy blockages
  • Boosts your immune system

FAQ's:

Does it hurt?

Cupping shouldn't hurt - certain points may feel slightly more tender than others but there shouldn't be pain.

How long do the stagnation marks last?

This varies from person to person and depending on the level of toxins drawn to the surface, however around a week as a rough guide.

Can you have Cupping therapy anywhere?

Largely yes - Cupping is great for IBS so can be applied to the stomach. Knees, shoulders, even cellulite. If you are unsure whether it may be able to help feel free to give me a call.
